Abstract

The purpose of this research is outlining the spread of Greek transport amphoras over the Phoenician Mediterranean during the 8th and 7th century BC, basing on the data collected in some Phoenician key-sites. A comparison of the repertoire from Kition, Carthage, Motya, Toscanos, Huelva and Cerro del Villar gives preliminary results in order to answer many different questions. It allows to understand, from one hand, the circulation of Greek goods, the distribution patterns and the commercial sea routes, from the other, the value and the reasons behind the request of Greek commodities in these Phoenician settlements
